Daring Damsel

Meet Daring Damsel, affectionately known as DeeDee. This 7-year-old, 16.1-hand Off-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) mare hails from the Galloping Out Thoroughbred Aftercare Program. DeeDee is an exceptionally sweet and willing horse who has retired sound. While she has some minor osselets on her front ankles, they do not limit her performance.

DeeDee is a talented jumper and has been successfully schooled at several shows. She’s easy to load and hauls well, making her a pleasure to travel with. DeeDee loves being brushed and is easy to clip. She enjoys riding around the property on a loose rein and has an auto lead change. Brave and non-spooky, she’s not sassy, spicy, or hot but is very energetic. She needs a rider who can effectively channel her energy, as she has great potential as a jumper or eventer.

DeeDee does crib, but we manage this by keeping water buckets on the ground and housing her in a stall with bars to minimize cribbing. She currently does not wear a cribbing collar. This intelligent and athletic mare has raced 41 times, earning $81,716, with her last race in December 2022.

DeeDee is looking for the right person to take her to new heights. With her willingness and smarts, she could truly be a star!
